controlled fire

the orange-blue flames lick the chimney bricks,

staining them with soot.

A curl of smoke rises slowly up,

up,

and out of the top of the chimney.

The eager flames try to break out of the

tight boundries that they are held back in

but that is impossible.

the fire cannot burn brick,

or metal.

All it has to burn on

is the logs that keep it alive.

how it wishes to escape from the fire place,

and nibble on the wood of this house,

then, as the house begins to really burn,

feast on it,

and what a marvoulus feast it would be.

But that is not possible,

for this is a small, weak fire,

just a few flickering flames,

not big enough to start even

the smallest of panics
